The Oakland EcoBlock team will lead an informal session at the 2026 American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings, bringing together practitioners and policymakers working on neighborhood-scale decarbonization.
The session, “Block by Block: Scaling Community-Centered Neighborhood Decarbonization,” takes place on Thursday, August 6, from 2-3 pm. It will be convened by EcoBlock principal investigator and CIEE associate director Dr. Therese Peffer, Melanie Colburn of the City of Oakland, Kate Ringness of Delta Arc Strategies, and Emily Sims of ACEEE.
The session will explore how communities and cities can scale decarbonization and how policy design, financing, and resident engagement can advance this work. Attendees are invited to bring their stories and ideas to the conversation and join a growing community of practice with like-minded peers.
Dr. Peffer will also present a conference paper on EcoBlock, co-authored with CIEE researcher Rich Brown, on Wednesday, August 5th.
