Microgrid Knowledge: This week, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia reached an agreement to move forward on climate and energy funding in a reconciliation bill titled the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. In addition to other provisions intended to both reduce energy costs and promote renewable power, the bill includes a tax credit for microgrids. The 30% tax credit will apply to microgrid controllers. Qualifying microgrids must produce between 4 kilowatts and 20 megawatts of power.
